About Us

In the late 1800's the people of the Mountain View community in Banks County, GA felt a need for a church in the area.  Neighbors got together and built a brush arbor where they would meet for a while.  Later they moved into a log building that was the Mountain View School House.  From there the people decided to build a church.  On October 10, 1897 ministers and deacons of the Baptist church met at the old school house for the purpose of organizing the church.

Mountain View Baptist Church was formed and begun with twenty original members.  These faithful twenty members voted to build a new church.  A building committee was formed, property was donated, and a church was built.  The original building stood until December of 1939 when it was destroyed by fire.  The church had grown considerably in those years.  Five days after the fire the membership met and voted to rebuild.  With the efforts of the people and the continued blessings of the Lord, Mountain View was able to rebuild the church.

As the years passed by the church continued to grow.  The church that was rebuilt in 1940 had become weathered and worn.  On April 14, 1976 the church felt it necessary to construct a new building.  A beautiful brick church was built and moved into in 1978.  This building did not last very long.  On February 22, 1980 lightning struck and a fire broke out that burnt the churh to the ground.  Several days after the loss of the building, members met for the purpose of rebuilding again.  Another brick church was built. Dedication Services were held on September 13, 1981.  By God's grace and care the people of Mountain View worship, sing, and pray in this facility today.

Services have been held in a brush arbor, log school, wood building, and a brick building.  God is still the same!  Meals have been held on the grounds and a beautiful Fellowship Building.  God is still the same!  Through many changes and challenges at Mountain View over the years, God has been with His people.  God's promise in Hebrews 13:5 has been true, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."  People have come and gone, yet God is still "the same yesterday, today, and for ever." (Hebrews 13:8)  Praise the Lord!

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Hebrews 13:8
